Leadership Legacy

Mr. Syed Kaiser Ally, the founder and former Chairman of Aquamarine Ltd., is one of the most experienced and respected figures in the shipping industry of Bangladesh. He began his career with Heiligers (Burma) Limited as a trainee in 1957 in Rangoon, Burma, and went on to serve as a Managing Director at Birds Bangladesh Agencies Ltd. In 1980, Mr. Ally left the company to establish Aquamarine Ltd., taking on the role of controlling shareholder.

He was also among the principal shareholders of Maersk Bangladesh Ltd., where his dedication and leadership over an eight-year period played a key role in strengthening Maersk's market position in Bangladesh. Mr. Ally later separated from Maersk in early 1997 when the company became fully foreign-owned.

In addition to his business achievements, Mr. Ally served as the Founding President of the Steamer Agents Association of Bangladesh and as Vice President of the Bhatiary & Country Golf Club, Chittagong. He also holds the distinguished position of Honorary Consul of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka in Chittagong.

Mr. Javed Kaiser Ally is the Managing Director of Aquamarine Ltd., bringing over three decades of experience in international shipping, logistics, and corporate leadership.

After graduating from Purdue University with a Bachelor of Science in Management, Mr. Ally began his professional career with Maersk Bangladesh Ltd. in 1993 as a Management Trainee. Following his initial training, he joined Maersk Line in New Jersey, USA, where he gained valuable international experience in global shipping and logistics before returning to Bangladesh in 1995.

In 1996, Mr. Ally joined Aquamarine Ltd. as a Director and has since played a pivotal role in the company's growth, strategic development, and operational excellence. Under his leadership, Aquamarine has strengthened its reputation as a trusted provider of freight forwarding, shipping, customs brokerage, and integrated logistics solutions in Bangladesh.

In addition to his role at Aquamarine, Mr. Ally serves as the Managing Director of Lighthouse Navigation Ltd., a company engaged in shipping and maritime services, and as a Director of GAS1 Ltd., an inland container depot (ICD) dedicated to strengthening Bangladesh's logistics infrastructure and facilitating international trade. Beyond the logistics sector, he has also played a significant role in other industries, including banking, where he previously served as the EC Chairman of Meghna Bank PLC, and pharmaceuticals, where he serves as a Director of Navana Pharmaceuticals Ltd. His diverse leadership experience across multiple sectors reflects a broad strategic perspective and a strong commitment to driving sustainable business growth.

A widely traveled business leader, Mr. Ally has developed extensive relationships with international partners, industry leaders, and key stakeholders. Guided by a global outlook and a commitment to excellence, he continues to lead Aquamarine's expansion while fostering innovation, operational excellence, and enduring partnerships across international markets.

Mr. Ibraheem Akbar Ally is a Director at Aquamarine, representing the third generation of family-led leadership. A graduate of Concordia University in Montreal, he injects bold, transformative vision and sharp global strategy into the company’s growth. In addition to his leadership at Aquamarine, he serves as an Operations Executive at GAS1 Limited. Mr. Ibraheem is committed to advancing Aquamarine’s sustained success, expanding its legacy while pushing the company into new global frontiers.
